June is Forklift Safety Month

But really - safety is important every day of every month!

Do you know the most common causes of warehouse accidents? The list includes not knowing safety procedures, not wearing the appropriate attire, and equipment malfunctions.

Following OSHA guidelines, and all employees receiving safety training and learning workplace procedures, goes a long way in preventing accidents. 

Always remove clutter and obstructions from pathways in the warehouse. 

Seatbelts, batteries, and warning signals should be checked daily.

But how do you know when your forklift is about to break down?

Some tell-tale signs are: 

• Fluid leaks

• Visible emission from the exhaust

• Worn forks

• Brakes not working properly.

It is advisable to follow a daily checklist, and have regular service performed on your equipment.
